Here's something to many people forget Your HR person is an employee of the company as well They get feedback They miss targets They wonder if they're good enough They want growth opportunities They deal with their own performance reviews But they also have to Hold space for your breakdown While managing their own stress Coach your leader through accountability While navigating their own difficult boss Fight for your development budget While wondering if they'll get theirs Advocate for your work-life balance While answering emails at 9pm We're not separate from the employee experience We're living it While trying to improve it for everyone else Here is what makes it harder, sometimes impossible When HR makes a mistake The whole company sees it When HR sets a boundary It's called "not being a team player" When HR needs support There's often no one to go to Because who does HR talk to when they're struggling Who coaches the coach Who holds space for the person holding space for everyone Most of the time No one So before you assume HR doesn't get it Before you think we're just enforcing rules Before you decide we don't understand Remember We're in the same building Dealing with the same leadership Navigating the same broken systems Trying to survive the same culture The only difference We're also the ones expected to fix it While no one's fixing it for us :)

The newsletter · Humans Before Title

The sharper version, in your inbox.

Coming soon

The part that didn't fit on LinkedIn.

Longer, slower, and straight from me instead of through an algorithm. Same shape every issue, four sections, no filler.

The Chair

One story from my actual week as a VP of HR. The real version, not the LinkedIn one.

The Take

A hot opinion on something happening in the field. Bring your own coffee, and your own disagreement.

The Tool

One thing from my toolkit worth stealing. A template, a framework, or a question.

The Signal

One thing I saw in HR tech, leadership, or workforce data worth 30 seconds.
